Collective Bargaining between School Boards and Teachers: A Social-Dramaturgical Interpretation

Les conventions collectives en milieu scolaire donnent naissance à des conflits qui mettent aux prises les syndicats d'enseignants et les conseils scolaires. La recherche en pédagogie n'a pas jusqu'à présent trouvé de solutions pour calmer les appréhensions des responsables de l'administration et de l'élaboration des politiques.
La raison en est que les théoriciens, refusant d'aller au cœur du problème, n'ont pas touché à deux éléments importants : on n'a pas tenu compte de la conception qu'on se faisait de la personne — un être incapable de faire preuve de jugement — et on a évité de remettre en question certaines structures administratives qu'on considérait sans failles. Le résultat est prévisible : on blâme les individus et les groupes; on les accuse de se conduire de façon non rationnelle, immature et égoïste.
Cette étude veut proposer une autre façon de poser le problème : c'est une sociologie de l'action qui met l'emphase sur l'intentionnalité des personnes et sur la recherche en vue d'une plus grande responsabilité.
