Le Concept de Non Directivité en Éducation: Son Apport et ses Limites

The concept of nondirectiveness did not originate in the field of education. It was first developed in the context of psychotherapy and was eventually extrapolated to education. The problems raised by this extrapolation from one applied field to another are the concern of this study. To the extent that nondirective education finds itself at an impasse today, it is because the validity of its theoretical postulates has not been examined sufficiently. To attempt to alleviate the confusion which prevails in this domain, the author proposes first to restore the concept of nondirectiveness to its original context, the Rogerian theory of personality, and second, to proceed to a critical analysis of this theory which will throw light on both its limits and relevance for the construction of a model of education.
