Loglinear Analysis: A New Tool for Educational Researchers

Many situations in educational research result in the collection of data that may be conveniently represented by means of a multi-dimensional contingency table. Recent years have seen the emergence of a number of procedures that examine such structures holistically permitting the examination of various types of higher-order interaction. One such approach is that of loglinear analysis. The present article attempts to set out the basic concepts underlying this approach and to then provide a number of examples from a variety of educational research settings that illustrate the procedure.
