On Discipline Stripping: Difficulties in the Application of Humanistic Metaphors to Educational Phenomena

Malgré l'effort fait depuis quelques années par les chercheurs en éducation pour établir un lexique de comparaisons issu du vocabulaire littéraire plutôt que des sciences sociales, ceci est loin d'être un fait accompli. Le présent article nous présente deux raisons à l'accueil peu favorable de ce projet. Premièrement, cette recherche semble faire peu de cas des comparaisons issues d'une branche spécifique à l'intérieur de l'ensemble des disciplines littéraires (le théâtre, par exemple), et par conséquent, n'apporte aucun critère valable dans le choix d'une comparaison plutôt qu'une autre. Deuxièmement, on ne semble pas considérer comme important, le problème de transférer un discours littéraire dans une discipline comme l'éducation alors que cette dernière est peu familière avec les lettres. Une fois ces deux difficultés établies, une mise en garde est adressée aux chercheurs sur la possibilité d'utiliser un tel lexique (ce genre de comparaison).
