Books, Boredom, and Behind Bars: An Explanation of Apathy and Hostility in Our Schools

La scolarisation est un phénomène de socialisation qui standardise et élimine quelquefois les émotions dans le but de faire adapter l’individu à la routine bureaucratique des emplois du système corporatif. Les étudiants “déviants” qui résistent à la standardisation en affichant publiquement combien ils s’ennuient à l’école, doivent faire face aux efforts que font les “autorités” qui essaient de les forcer à “s’ajuster” à un système scolaire qui est à l’image socio-économique de l’environnement culturel prévalent. On discute de deux choses: (1) que l’on devrait sérieusement considérer les actions de ces “déviants” comme étant la pointe visible d’un iceberg scolaire formé d’apathie et d’hostilité et (2) qu’il faudrait commencer par transformer les écoles en institutions dont la fréquentation serait facultative et qui seraient plus orientées sur la communauté.
