Women’s Rights: A Seamstress’ Analysis

Cette étude analyse les distinctions entre le sens normatif et le sens factuel des droits ainsi que les distinctions entre le sens formel et le sens substantiel d’égalité des chances. Bien que les femmes aient accès à l’égalité des chances, elles ne bénéficient que rarement d’une réelle égalité. On peut attribuer les raisons de ce phénomène aux stéréotypes qui sont enracinés dans notre culture, dans nos attitudes, dans notre comportement, et même dans notre langage et qui se manifestent dans les emplois mal payés et dans des rôles de deuxième plan en ce qui concerne la femme. La participation des femmes dans le mariage et dans la prise en charge des enfants continue de les empêcher d’échapper aux situations d’inégalité. Le rôle de l’éducation comme agent réformateur est examiné.
