Teacher Stress: A Literature Survey with a Few Surprises

L'enseignement est généralement perçu comme une occupation qui suscite beaucoup de tension nerveuse, pourtant l'étude de 71 articles portant sur le stress des enseignants met en évidence le peu de données empiriques dont on dispose à l'appui de cette perception. Parmi les articles recensés, 70% ne présentaient pas de données mais consistaient en expressions d'opinion et le plus souvent prétendaient que le stress était très fréquent chez les enseignants. Seulement 30% des articles étudiés appuyaient leurs conclusions sur des données empiriques. La plupart de ces articles visaient alors à identifier les origines du stress des enseignants. Dans l'ensemble, les articles recensés montrent qu'il y a peu de données empiriques à l'appui de l'opinion répandue qui veut que l'enseignement soit un métier dont l'exercice suscite beaucoup de tension.
