L'Impact de la taille de l'école secondaire sur le vécu scolaire

Depuis la réforme scolaire au Québec, les grandes écoles secondaires polyvalentes furent la cible de nombreuses critiques. La taille de l'institution fut souvent considérée comme la source principale de tous ses maux. Est-ce fondé? C'est la question à laquelle nous avons tenté de répondre à partir des perceptions des élèves, des enseignants et des parents. La taille de l'école seule n'apparaît pas constituer un facteur déterminant de la qualité du vécu scolaire. Chez les élèves, elle a des effets fort différents selon qu'ils sont au premier ou au second cycle. Par ailleurs, elle n'a pratiquement pas d'impact sur le vécu professionnel des enseignants. De leur part, les parents entretiennent des perceptions négatives envers les grandes écoles secondaires polyvalentes. Elles semblent reposer davantage sur des préjugés que sur des faits.
